What to expect As our Senior Project Certification Manager, you'll lead the certification programme from the early stages of design all the way through to type certification. You will be the key liaison between engineering, suppliers, and regulatory authorities globally. What you'll do Defining the certification basis and means of compliance, negotiating with civil aviation authorities Leading development of certification plans, test proposals, verification/validation (V&V) strategy, and inspection & qualification campaigns. Collaborating with suppliers to ensure their parts, processes and documentation satisfy certification requirements. Supporting continued airworthiness post-certification and managing modifications or changes. What you'll bring 10+ years of experience in aircraft type certification or major modification/STC/major regulatory engagements in aerospace, preferably with highly regulated domains. Strong foundation in regulatory/airworthiness standards (e.g. equivalent to CS/FAR Part 23/25/27/29 or their global analogues), software & hardware compliance standards (DO-178C / DO-254), environmental qualification (DO-160 or equivalent), and systems safety & reliability (ARP4754A, ARP4761 or equivalents). Proven experience in interacting with aviation authorities internationally, negotiating technical requirements/methods of compliance, and delivering projects through audit or authority review. Leadership & management experience: building teams, mentoring engineers, managing cross-disciplinary stakeholder interfaces. Strong project planning, risk management, configuration control, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication: able to translate complex technical/certification issues into program-level strategy and reports. What to expect We are seeking a highly talented System Engineer with a data and communications background to participate in the design, development, verification and flight test support of the data system suite for an eVTOL platform. What you'll do Requirements Management: Develop and maintain requirements and their traceability matrices, ensuring all requirements are fully documented and tracked throughout the project lifecycle. Design and Development: Create and develop integrated avionic suite designs and ground stations including sensors, communication, recording and display systems System Integration: Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure system compatibility and integration into the aircraft platform. What to expect We are seeking a highly talented Avionic Systems Engineer to lead the design, development and integration of the Communication, Navigation, Surveillance and Maintenance Systems for an eVTOL platform. The candidate will have a solid foundation in avionics and hands-on experience of system design, integration, verification and certification activities. They will contribute to the full lifecycle of avionics development, including definition, integration and support for certification. This role is ideal for someone who has 8 or more years of relevant experience and can take ownership of key technical work packages. What you'll do Avionics: Lead an engineering team focused on the aircraft communication, navigation, surveillance and maintenance system design and integration activities. Develop requirements, description documents, interface control documents, test procedure and reports. Oversee test plan development, commissioning and troubleshooting activities. Modelling & Requirements Management: Capture engineering specifications in Vertical's modelling & requirements environment, enabling end-to-end traceability for the designed components and ensuring all relevant certification requirements are captured and decomposed. Familiarity with avionics standards and communication protocols (e.g., ARINC 429, CAN, RS-422 and ARINC 664). Proficiency in systems engineering tools and methodologies. Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills. Knowledge of aviation regulations (e.g., FAA, EASA) and standards related to communication, navigation, surveillance and maintenance systems. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a clean-sheet aircraft programme, contributing to the development of flight deck systems including displays, avionics computing, sensors, data networks, and pilot interfaces. You will work closely with experienced systems engineers, pilots and multidisciplinary teams to help deliver certifiable, safety-critical avionics systems. The ideal candidate is technically strong, highly motivated, and eager to develop expertise in systems engineering and flight deck avionics within a fast-paced aerospace environment. What you'll do Avionics System Development Support the development of flight deck avionics system architectures. Assist in defining system functions, interfaces, and requirements. Own the preparation and delivery of avionics system documentation. Contribute to avionics trade studies and technology evaluations. Requirements & Modelling Capture and manage system requirements within the company's requirements management tools. Develop and agree use cases to validate system behaviour and requirements Support development of system models to define architecture and interfaces. Maintain traceability between high-level aircraft requirements and avionics system specifications. Integration & Testing Support integration of avionics hardware and software in lab environments. Assist in developing test procedures and verification plans. Participate in bench testing, rig testing, and aircraft integration activities. Support troubleshooting and resolution of integration issues. What you'll bring Bachelor's or master's degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, systems, or a related field. Additional training in systems engineering or human factors is a plus. 1-2 years of relevant industry experience. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Confident communicator with the ability to clearly explain technical topics and work effectively with engineers, pilots, suppliers, and cross-functional teams. Proficiency in systems engineering tools and methodologies. Familiarity with ARP4761, ARP4754 and DO-160. Experience with Product Lifecycle Management systems.
