Information Governance Officer | 6-Month Contract | Inside IR35 | Hybrid (2 days on-site, Edinburgh) | Start ASAP Day Rate: DOE About the Role Support the Information Governance & Data Protection Officer and Corporate Governance Manager in delivering data protection, records management, and information governance services. Act as a key contact for regulators and internal stakeholders, ensuring compliance with data protection legislation and FOI requirements. Advise on Data Protection Impact Assessments and maintain records of processing activities. Main Duties Provide advice on information governance and statutory compliance. Manage responses to FOI and Subject Access Requests. Support incident management and implement policy improvements. Ensure data sharing safeguards and IG considerations in projects. Maintain retention schedules and the Information Asset Register. Contribute to risk management, audits, and compliance reporting. Deliver IG training and guidance to staff and volunteers. Collaborate with partners to uphold governance standards. Essential Skills & Experience Strong knowledge of UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, FOI (Scotland), and Public Records (Scotland) Act. Experience in IG roles, handling sensitive data, and meeting strict deadlines. Ability to communicate complex information clearly to varied audiences. Evidence of CPD and understanding of confidentiality principles. Desirable: Project management, IG in digital systems, and experience working with volunteers.
