We re supporting a specialist engineering and manufacturing business operating in a highly regulated technical environment , supplying engineered solutions to demanding customers. This is a senior, hands-on design role with real influence across projects, customers and internal stakeholders. What s the role all about? As the Senior Design Engineer , you ll lead individual design projects from concept through to production, working closely with Sales, Applications and Manufacturing. You ll be responsible for ensuring designs are technically robust, compliant, delivered on time and within budget. You ll also act as Account Engineer for a key established customer, managing technical engagement from initial quotation through to final product release. Your responsibilities will include: Leading and delivering design projects to agreed timescales Producing, reviewing and approving drawings, specifications and technical reports Carrying out detailed design calculations (stress, tolerance, verification) Preparing technical proposals, tenders and customer documentation Managing technical input during New Product Introduction (NPI) Developing validation methods to confirm product performance Preparing engineering sign-off packs and databooks Supporting Sales, Manufacturing and customers with technical expertise Monitoring project costs against agreed budgets Contributing to improvements in engineering processes, systems and data management This is a role for someone who enjoys responsibility, variety and technical depth. What you ll need To succeed as a Senior Design Engineer , you ll bring: - HNC / HND / Degree in an Engineering discipline - Minimum 4+ years industry experience in a design engineering role - Strong understanding of the full design lifecycle from concept to production - Competence in CAD and 3D solid modelling - Good working knowledge of fluid mechanics theory and practice - Experience producing technical documentation and customer sign-off packs - Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects Desirable experience (not essential) - AutoCAD Inventor / Autodesk Vault / MathCAD - DFMEA / PFMEA - Pressure vessel design (PD5500, ASME, PED) - FEA / CFD - Injection moulding experience - Supplying into regulated sectors (e.g. nuclear) - Fabrication and welding environments - Project management exposure Who you are You re methodical, detail-driven and comfortable taking ownership. You communicate clearly, work well with others and take pride in delivering designs that meet regulatory, customer and commercial requirements.
