An embedded IT team member will design, develop and maintain business critical software for the UK short term trading and hedging desks. "Embedded" means working directly alongside our traders, building full stack, tailor made IT solutions to help traders optimise our fleet of power stations and spot market opportunities quickly. Your responsibilities Design, implement, and maintain robust bespoke applications Be technology focused, keeping up to date with the latest cloud technologies, identifying where and how these technologies can be utilised Motivate to put our stakeholders first, take ownership and responsibility for delivering functionality that meets high standards of robustness and business value Work with an agile methodology (Kanban) delivering solutions through DevOps Collaborate with the team to define our technology strategy for the future, aiming for a lean, efficient architecture that is flexible and cost effective Participate in standby / on call rota and be willing to travel occasionally Your profile Demonstrable C# .NET development experience; familiar with modern ways of hosting .NET applications in the cloud (e.g. containerisation) Experience with AWS (especially Lambda, SQS, ECS, S3, etc.) and an understanding of serverless event based architecture A curiosity and openness to learn and upskill rapidly on different technologies within a commercial environment Experience with Oracle / Postgres databases Good knowledge of architecture / design patterns, distributed systems, and SOLID principles Good knowledge and understanding of security principles Advantageous, but not a must Familiar with Microsoft Entra ID Hands on experience with Angular framework Good knowledge of continuous integration / delivery methodology Experience of re architecting traditional systems to cloud specific technologies Experience with automated software testing methods Some knowledge of the UK energy market Benefits you can rely on Working alongside our traders and analysts gives you the opportunity to shape the commercial business from an IT perspective. This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior DevOps Engineer to join a world leading Energy Trading company in the Trading & Supply space. As a DevOps Engineer, you will be a hands on engineer and a member of a small, high performing team responsible for global derivatives trading production environments. Your work will be driven by product teams and by engineering backlog improvements and tech debt. Responsibilities Ensure proactive management of critical end to end workflows, continuously improving stability and resilience through close collaboration with delivery and infrastructure teams. Assist with troubleshooting and issue resolution across development, support, and technical business users. Serve as a subject matter expert for trading systems initiatives. Provide hands on support for scalable algorithmic trading technology in a compliant and flexible way. Maintain knowledge of Algo regulation, audit and compliance (RTS6). Participate in the on call rota as part of a global team of development engineers. Qualifications Understanding of all major global futures exchanges. Knowledge of the full exchange traded derivatives trade lifecycle. Minimum of 8 years' experience in Commodity Trading & Capital Markets / Investment Banks. Knowledge of market data providers (Bloomberg, Refinitiv, etc.) and liquidity aggregation platforms. Minimum of 8 years of knowledge of real time market data distribution platforms, individual feed handlers and enterprise level real time consolidated feeds. Minimum of 8 years of knowledge of time series analytic frameworks including kdb, shakti or similar technologies. Solid track record in application deployment best practices. 10+ years of experience with Front Office application support and vendor management. Rapid incident response to maintain continuous trading operations, turning quick fixes into robust, scalable solutions. Proactive system monitoring and troubleshooting, owning reliability improvements and ensuring successful delivery. Understanding of trading lifecycle, including order capture & execution, allocation workflow, settlement, and compliance requirements. Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data sets and propose innovative solutions. Strong technical skills in scripting, Python, PowerShell, C#, SQL or other programming languages. 8+ years of solid relevant FIX engineering experience. Proven experience with exchange and vendor certification. Knowledge of third party networks and EMS/OMS software vendors (e.g., TT, NYFIX, Bloomberg, TradingScreen). Experience in messaging systems and debugging network protocols such as TCP, multicast. 8+ years of operational experience in supporting market data distribution platforms such as real time distribution systems (RTDS) for DACS, ADH & ADS components. Knowledge of multicast data traffic management, arbitration and message queuing. 5+ years of operational experience supporting time series frameworks such as kdb, shakti.
