The role will be based at our Winchester offices, however as part of Hampshire County Council's Open Workplace Policy the successful candidate can undertake their work with a hybrid approach between home and office, depending upon operational requirements, with the majority of work able to be performed at home if desired. What you'll do: The focus of the role is design, development, growth, and technical support of services supported by the Boomi Integration platform. We're particularly interested in applicants with a background in building iPaaS solutions on platforms such as Boomi, MuleSoft, SAP Integration Suite or Workato who are keen to apply their skills, assisting us in development and growth of council services. In addition to developing on the Boomi Integration platform you will create knowledge-sharing documentation, present concepts and designs at senior IT management forums to describe and seek agreement of new designs and implementation of new technologies, and sometimes occupy a sole technical lead consultant role to Project Management colleagues to assist in ensuring accurate and timely completion of all project artefacts; consulting on functional and non functional requirements, creating Application Knowledgebase entries, technical Wiki's and advising on technical details to support completion of service triage documentation. As a key member of the team your input into resource and recruitment processes will be valued, and you will contribute to some HR process and sometimes non technical tasks to support overall team effectiveness. The key focus of the role is to support the continuous development of services provided by the Boomi iPaaS and its associated technologies. This will include creation and development of new processes, sometimes deep technical troubleshooting to investigate and resolve complex issues, as well as analysis and design of process enhancements and support of improvement and maintenance initiatives. It is expected that you will often work closely with wider IT departments, benefit from collective technical expertise, draw upon industry knowledge, and that you will identify and interpret information from reliable third party sources where necessary. What we're looking for: You are a highly experienced Integration Developer, with hands on experience completing numerous projects using an iPaaS solution. You have integrated multiple applications and technologies, and brought new services live to fruition. You are experienced and effective working in a cross team development and third level support environment; building, maintaining and growing technical and business relationships with IT teams and wider business departments. You have an excellent understanding of iPaaS technology within an enterprise level development context; in maintenance and support of its underlying infrastructure, and application of technical standards which support service bus architecture. You are a self starter who takes the initiative, with excellent analytical and technical problem solving skills, and with confidence to identify, analyse and solve problems in a logical, lateral and ultimately effective way. You are comfortable interpreting high level business requirements and driving high quality solutions from them, discussing directly with multiple stakeholders, and understanding business context and the value of all involved parties. You absorb information quickly and seek deeper understanding of new and existing technologies. You relish opportunities to complement your existing skills, and you are determined and adaptable, with excellent interpersonal oral and written skills. This is an engineering role, not a configuration one. As Salesforce grows into a serious AI platform, you'll be building with Agentforce, Einstein, Prompt Builder, Model Builder, and Data Cloud to create agents and AI-driven features that hold up under real workloads. The work varies a lot. One day you might be designing an agent's reasoning and actions in Agentforce, the next writing Apex to ground a model in Salesforce data, tuning prompts and retrieval so answers stay accurate, or setting up evaluation harnesses to catch problems before they reach users. Your role Partner with Salesforce Functional Consultants, Solution Architects, and AI Specialists to design and deliver innovative Salesforce and AI-powered business solutions. Leverage Agentforce, Einstein AI, Prompt Builder, Model Builder, and Data Cloud to develop intelligent experiences, autonomous agents, and AI-augmented business processes. Act as a Salesforce and AI subject matter expert within the Digital Customer Experience (DCX) practice, helping shape our next-generation consulting capabilities and AI delivery methodologies. Design and develop scalable Salesforce solutions using a combination of declarative and programmatic technologies including Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), Flow, JavaScript, Platform Events, and APIs.Build AI-enabled solutions that combine customer, operational, and enterprise data to deliver personalised, predictive, and proactive business experiences. Integrate Salesforce with enterprise systems using MuleSoft, APIs, Event-Driven Architectures, and AppExchange solutions to create connected digital ecosystems.Utilise AI-assisted development tools and modern DevOps practices to accelerate delivery, increase quality, and improve developer productivity. Contribute to continuous innovation by evaluating emerging Salesforce AI capabilities and identifying opportunities to apply them across client engagements. Support Agile delivery teams and champion modern engineering practices using tools such as Gearset, Copado, Flosum, GitHub, Azure DevOps, and CI/CD pipelines. Engage directly with client stakeholders, helping them understand how AI, automation, and Salesforce technology can unlock measurable business value. Why You? You'll thrive at the intersection of technology, business consulting, and AI innovation. Working alongside clients, you'll transform and develop ambitious business objectives into practical, scalable Salesforce solutions powered by automation, intelligence, and next-generation AI capabilities. You'll be expected not only to solve today's challenges but to help clients prepare for an increasingly autonomous, AI-driven future.Whether you're designing Agentforce agents, building enterprise-grade Salesforce applications, integrating Data Cloud, or advising executives on AI adoption, you'll become a trusted advisor capable of translating complex technology into meaningful business outcomes. Most importantly, you'll help shape the future role of the Salesforce consultant-leveraging AI to move beyond configuration and development into strategic solution design, innovation, and business transformation. Your skill and experience Technical Expertise • Strong Salesforce technical experience across one or more core clouds including Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, Commerce Cloud, Industries Cloud, or Field Service. • Hands-on experience developing solutions using Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), Flow, JavaScript, APIs, and Salesforce integration patterns. • Hands-on experience building with Agentforce, Einstein, Prompt Builder and Model Builder, including designing agent actions, writing and tuning prompts, and grounding models in Salesforce data. • A working understanding of how large language models behave in practice: prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), grounding, and how to reduce hallucination. • Experience testing and evaluating AI features, for example building eval sets, measuring accuracy, and monitoring quality, cost and latency once live. • Knowledge of enterprise integration approaches, including MuleSoft, event-driven architectures, REST/SOAP APIs, and external system connectivity, including connecting to AI models hosted outside Salesforce. • Experience building solutions for large-scale environments supporting hundreds or thousands of Salesforce users. • Nice to have: familiarity with the Model Context Protocol (MCP), vector search and embeddings, or Python for AI tooling.
