Overview Stirling Dynamics is recruiting a Chief Engineer with a focus on software/electronic hardware. Stirling Dynamics design, develop and produce a wide range of high-end aircraft simulator, ground control and flightworthy cockpit controls. Stirling's products include both 'active' and 'passive' controls. The active controls primarily serve the engineering development and pilot training simulation market. They are feature-rich, highly reconfigurable, and suitable for single or dual (linked) aircraft cockpit configurations. Our range of active products includes side sticks, throttles, collectives, cyclics, tillers, pedals and their associated control systems. The company is continuously bringing new products to market while enhancing and refining existing solutions. Although Stirling has passive product offerings for the pilot training and simulation sector, the primary demand is for flightworthy applications where Stirling design, develop and supply products that are integrated within certified aircraft. We have pioneered active control technology since the early 1990s and are proud to hold many industry and technology firsts, including supplying the controls for the first fully active fly-by-wire helicopter flight. Today, we supply active sticks and throttles for the new F-35 pilot training simulators and continue to innovate and push boundaries in cockpit control technology. THE ROLE Due to a strong order book and sustained growth, Stirling Dynamics is seeking a highly experienced engineer to join the Chief Engineer team, providing technical leadership, guidance, and governance through the bid and complex project delivery phases. Our existing team brings a breadth of expertise across multiple disciplines. This opportunity is designed to complement that team by filling a key capability gap, with a focus on individuals with a software/electronic hardware background developed within regulated environments (e.g. rail, aerospace etc). Stirling operates a matrix organisation with engineering capability on one axis (engineering teams/departments - organised by discipline, each led by a Technical Manager) and project delivery on the other (project management delivering on behalf of business units - project management is led by the Head of Programmes and each business unit by a Business Manager). The Chief Engineer role sits within the delivery axis, working in collaboration with business stakeholders and technical teams to ensure that both bids and project solutions are technically robust, well-balanced (considering time, cost, and quality), and aligned with customer and regulatory requirements. The role is primarily based in our Bristol office, with occasional travel to client sites. We are committed to flexible working and offer the opportunity to work from home for part of the week. Chief Engineers provide an important 'governance' function, offering independent, thoughtful review of technical solutions. They may also take on a more hands on leadership role within particularly complex bids or projects, helping to guide direction and delivery. This is one of the most senior engineering roles within the organisation, reporting directly to the Operations Director. The work is diverse, spanning aerospace, marine, and training & simulation. Within Aerospace, projects may include civil and military applications across fixed wing, rotary wing (including eVTOL), and a range of aircraft sizes. Projects can encompass airworthy equipment development, complex modifications, and new aircraft programmes. In Marine, the work includes submarine control system solutions and specialist consultancy. Within Training & Simulation, it involves the design and manufacture of a wide range of active and passive pilot COTS (standard Stirling product) and bespoke cockpit control solutions for a global customer base. The ideal candidate will bring experience leading multi disciplinary teams and successfully delivery of complex engineering programmes in one or more of these areas. This is a highly visible role internally and externally. The ability to build strong, trusted relationships and work effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders (customers, regulators, and colleagues) is essential. Responsibilities General Act on behalf of the Operations Director to support the successful delivery of technical bids and projects/programmes. Business Development Support the Business Development teams by providing customer focused technical expertise and 'solutioneering' prior to formal bid activity. Proactively identify and nurture opportunities with both new and existing customers. Bids During the bid phase, work closely with business managers and project management, taking ownership of shaping a compelling and cohesive technical response. Engage Technical Managers and the wider engineering community where needed, ensuring that solutions are robust, well considered and aligned with requirements. Project Delivery Support a smooth and seamless transition from bid to project launch, ensuring technical continuity. Provide ongoing technical guidance and assurance to projects as needed (e.g. reviewing plans, facilitating design reviews, offering independent insight and support). On selected complex projects/programmes, take on a leading technical role to help ensure successful delivery of high quality, compliant, and commercially sound solutions. Strategy Contribute to shaping the future technical direction of products and services, supporting innovation and continuous improvement Desired skills Current Security Check (SC) clearance or eligibility to obtain Experience across the full product development lifecycle Customer facing technical or business development experience Success in this role will be supported by the following qualities: Ability to engage, support and guide multi disciplinary teams towards shared goals A collaborative and professional approach when working with diverse stakeholders Confidence to question, challenge constructively, and offer solutions Strong organisational skills with the ability to balance multiple complex priorities Practical, logical thinking combined with sound judgement Attention to detail and a proactive approach to quality assurance A motivated and dependable approach to meeting commitments Openness to change, with a positive mindset towards continuous improvement Experience Degree qualified engineer in a relevant discipline Significant experience in relevant sectors, particularly in software and electronic hardware within regulated/high integrity environments Proven experience contributing to and shaping technical bids Demonstrated success leading complex engineering projects and teams Benefits Competitive package. The role can cover grades 8-9 and therefore has a wide salary range (minimum of £65,000) as it will depend on the candidate's experience level. We offer a range of benefits to our employees to recognise their efforts. Playing hard is equally as important as working hard, so regular events are held throughout the year which provide an ideal opportunity to mix socially

At Great Yellow we're looking for a Senior Data Platform Engineer to join our team. About Great Yellow Great Yellow is building the operating system for a regenerative economy. Our mission is to make regenerative land-use investable and scalable, helping businesses, investors, and land managers move from intention to investable action. We're proving it in the UK on landmark landscape recovery projects, with proprietary natural capital valuation models and a growing team of advisors, project managers, ecological experts, engineers, and product thinkers. Our vision continues to grow: any enterprise, anywhere, running a regenerative land-use programme at scale, on our platform. We're building the intelligence layer that will fundamentally reshape how land-use decisions are made, financed and scaled, toward a world where those decisions are systematically aligned across nature, infrastructure, agricultural production and human wellbeing. This is a system designed not just to analyse the world, but to actively coordinate regenerative land-use across landscapes, supply chains and asset classes. We're a small, early-stage technical team inside a wider commercial business. We ship fast, validate, and iterate. About the Role We're looking for a senior engineer to design, build, and own the data pipelines and data architecture that feed both our customer-facing platform and our internal teams, and who has the software-engineering range to jump in alongside our product engineers when the work calls for it. This is a hands on role reporting to the Head of Engineering. The volume of work isn't the challenge, the variety is. Over the next 6-12 months we expect to stand up many pipelines across very different data shapes, from statutory BNG and carbon datasets to live environmental sensor feeds and investor data products. You'll be the person who can look at a new source, pick the right pattern for it, build it, and know when and where it will strain. You'll thrive here if you like owning a work-stream end-to-end: design doc to production to iteration, without needing the thinking done for you. You're equally comfortable shaping architecture and getting your hands dirty in the code. What you'll do Design and own our data pipelines. Build and maintain robust ETL workflows across a deliberately diverse set of sources. The three dominant shapes we see today are: unifying and normalising data into a relational store with proper versioning and lineage; polling an external API and landing it as a Hive-partitioned Parquet dataset; storing document blobs and their metadata via a document-management approach. There will be many more shapes; your job is to choose the right one each time rather than force-fit a single pattern. Make sound architecture calls. Understand the difference between operational and analytical layers and design right-sized infrastructure that scales with us over time. Our focus is variety, not big data. Know which patterns suit which problems, when a new tool genuinely earns its place, and when it doesn't. Engage directly with the source. Work with subject-matter experts across the business to understand what the data means before you model it. Build for reliability. Put the hooks, monitoring, and KPIs in place to know how a pipeline is performing, where its limits are, and when it's degrading, before someone else notices. Contribute to the platform. Pair with our Senior Software Developer on the customer-facing product (currently a lean, Cloudflare-native TypeScript / React stack in a monorepo). Critique designs, raise the bar, and help us build features that are well-tested and built to last. Use AI as a lever, not a crutch. We expect strong day-to-day fluency with AI-assisted development: planning, refactoring, reviewing, catching bugs and security issues, moving faster as a small team. But we need a senior who can architect and build from first principles, not someone who leans on the tools to paper over gaps. Help shape what's next. We're not event-driven today, but that's a likely direction. You'll have real influence over the stack and the standards as the team grows. What we're looking for Data engineering depth. Demonstrable experience designing, building, and maintaining production data pipelines across heterogeneous sources, strong SQL and data-modelling skills, and real ELT/ETL experience (e.g. with tools such as dbt or similar). Architectural judgement. You can reason about operational vs analytical layers, data lake / warehouse patterns, versioning and lineage, and right-sizing infrastructure for a variety-first (not volume-first) problem. Software-engineering fundamentals. You're a genuine engineer, not a tool operator; you can build from scratch, reason about a codebase, and contribute to a modern web platform. Comfort with TypeScript/JavaScript (and ideally React) is a real plus; cloud experience is essential, though we're not precious about which (AWS, GCP, Azure, or Cloudflare). Autonomy. You can take ownership of a work-stream and drive it without the mental load sitting with the leadership team. Typically this means 5+ years of relevant experience, but we care far more about the scope you can hold than the number. Versatility. You're comfortable with shifting priorities in an early-stage environment and willing to have a foot in more than one camp as the needs of the business change. Communication. You can translate business goals and SME knowledge into technical solutions, and explain trade-offs clearly to a non-engineering audience. Locality. Within commuting distance of London, able to work 1-2 days a week from our central office. Nice to have Experience building, deploying, and maintaining machine-learning pipelines in production (the maintenance matters as much as the building). Experience with Retrieval-Augmented Generation, and with vector or graph databases. Familiarity with a modern data stack: Databricks, dbt, DLT, Unity Catalog or similar. This is a direction of travel for us, not a settled decision, so exposure is welcome but not required. Experience with the Cloudflare ecosystem, or with serverless/edge-first architectures. Familiarity with event-driven architectures and message brokers/queues. Experience in fintech, climate, or other data-heavy / decision-support domains. A genuine interest in sustainability, nature recovery, and conservation finance. Why Join Great Yellow? Be part of an innovative start-up that's breaking new ground in finance and ecological restoration. Engage in meaningful work with the potential to make a lasting impact on the planet. Work alongside a passionate and diverse team in an environment that values flexibility, collaboration, autonomy, and growth. Our culture is built on three principles: All for the Hive (shared leadership and collaboration), Shameless Ambition (raise the bar, speak directly), and Design the Future (think big, learn by doing, own it). We're big believers in flexibility - work where you do your best thinking - but we also value getting together in our office to share ideas (and coffee). Principal Software EngineerApplyremote type: Hybridlocations: UK, Peterborough: UK, Bracknelltime type: Full timeposted on: Posted Todayjob requisition id: JR105037We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join a small, highly experienced Epicor Labs team that transforms innovative AI concepts into enterprise-grade products trusted by enterprise customers. This is a hands-on engineering role , not a management position. You will design and build, set the technical bar for production quality, and provide the architectural judgement needed to take AI-driven products from promising prototype to something enterprise customers can trust with their business data. What you'll do As a Principal Engineer, you'll play a key role in designing and delivering the next generation of AI capabilities across Epicor's ERP portfolio. PoCs and MVPs in AI transformation projects inside enterprise ERP software - rapid exploration of new capabilities, with the engineering discipline to evolve the successful ones into production-grade services. Cloud platform services - designing and building the services, APIs, and data layers that new AI capabilities run on, integrating with large, established ERP products. Production readiness - bringing R&D output up to enterprise standard: reliability, observability, security, multi-tenancy, and safe failure behaviour. AI engineering - integrating LLMs and agentic patterns into business software responsibly: guardrails, permissions, auditability, and designing for the probabilistic nature of AI components acting on real business data. Raising the bar - architectural review across the team's workstreams, mentoring engineers at all levels, and turning good judgement into standards and automation rather than tribal knowledge. What you are likely to bring: Principal-level engineering depth in C#/.NET and/or Python, with cloud platforms (Azure preferred), and a strong record of designing and shipping production services. Our systems span both stacks - strength in one with working fluency in the other is the expectation. Production TypeScript/JavaScript frontend engineering experience, including building secure, accessible user interfaces that integrate with enterprise web shells, APIs and backend services. Experience designing and integrating enterprise information systems, with a strong understanding of data flows, system boundaries and the operational impact of change. Ability to work effectively with data scientists and other AI specialists to turn data, models and experimentation into reliable, usable product capabilities. Production ownership experience - you have run systems in production and carry the instincts that come from it: partial failure, resilience, blast-radius thinking, and designing for the incident nobody planned. This matters to us more than any specific framework. Distributed-systems fluency: service boundaries, transactional thinking, multi-tenant design, API design and versioning. Strong architectural communication - able to explain, document, and defend design decisions across teams, and to review others' designs constructively. Pragmatism under real-world constraints: comfortable integrating with large, long-lived enterprise systems and choosing the achievable-good over the theoretical-perfect. Highly desirable: Hands-on exposure to AI-assisted engineering - building with LLM APIs, agentic coding tools, and prompt-driven workflows, and a grounded view of where they help and where they don't. Experience taking early-stage products (PoC/MVP) to production, ideally in enterprise software. AWS experience. Complex business-domain experience - ERP, e-commerce, finance, logistics - and an appreciation of the cost of getting business data wrong. Security instincts: least privilege, tenancy isolation, trust boundaries. What success looks like Within your first 3 months, you'll: Deliver production-quality code Own components from design through implementation Contribute architectural improvements across the team Within 6-12 months, you'll: Lead the design of major platform capabilities Become a trusted technical leader and architectural reference point Mentor engineers and help raise engineering standards across Epicor Labs About Epicor Labs: Epicor Labs is the innovation engine behind AI transformation across Epicor's ERP portfolio. Our team explores new ideas, rapidly prototypes solutions, and turns successful concepts into production-ready capabilities before handing them over to product engineering teams. We're a small, senior team with: High autonomy Minimal bureaucracy Fast decision-making Strong engineering standards A collaborative culture where the best ideas win, regardless of titleYou'll work alongside experienced architects, product managers, UX designers, and AI specialists to solve challenging technical problems with real customer impact.
