Solutions Architect

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Solutions Architect to join our IT team in our Sheffield office.

Reporting to the Lead Solutions Architect, this diverse role will be responsible for delivering the solution (application and technical) architecture for IM including partnering with other architects, business SMEs, business analysts, system analysts, engineers and third parties to design and assure all IT solutions used within the IM IT estate.   In your role as Solutions Architect, your main responsibilities will be to: 

• Develop strategies and architectural artefacts which will enable the delivery of our OneIM Business Vision by the IM2022 programme.
• Produce architecture artefacts for and guide technical delivery of projects within the business change portfolio and projects that realise the IT strategy.

The ideal candidate will combine understanding of architecture and IT delivery with excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to present, discuss and explain issues, and to constructively challenge and influence at all levels within the organisation. You will have strong leadership behaviours, and be a team player who is adaptable and able to react positively to change. 

You will use your experience to identify both the business and technical impact of emerging industry and technology trends on solution architecture designs and strategic initiatives, while contributing to the continuous improvement of our architecture delivery through effective and efficient processes, tools and methodologies. We are looking for applicants with multiple years’ experience working in the solution architecture field with experience in managing external technology experts, in creating solution architecture strategies and roadmaps to deliver tangible business benefits and/or reduce technical risk and in delivering architecture-based projects.  If you are an adaptable and well-rounded individual with proven business skills and excellent technical knowledge who is keen to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment, then please apply.

As part of that interview you will be asked to present a 10 minute presentation suitable for a combined business and technical audience. The topic for the presentation is “Your firm has decided to make use of a SaaS provider to replace several current applications covering Customer Sales and Order Fulfilment. At present, all IT systems including Finance are on-premise. The Board needs a high-level plan for what is involved.” Please ensure your presentation addresses: 

• How would you develop an appropriate architectural solution to make this transformation possible?
• What governance would you apply or expect to comply with?
• What approach would you take to the business stakeholders, and how would you win their support and readiness to invest?
• What challenges might you encounter during implementation?
