Are you looking for the opportunity to grow your skills, knowledge and experience across a broad range of IT systems and industry leading projects? Ford & Stanley are recruiting an IT Administrator for a leading UK-based provider of software products to the rail industry.
You will be responsible for the maintenance and administration of the company's internal IT systems, including the delivery and installation of project equipment, software and hardware. Quality and compliance are fundamental elements of this role, therefore you will play a key part in taking the lead in ensuring the inspection, testing and accuracy of goods.
Success will be measured based on your performance and ability to maintain internal IT systems, ensuring compliance with company processes and the implementation of continuous improvements to achieve the best possible availability.
Key responsibilities
* Maintaining and supporting the company's internal IT systems to achieve best possible availability
* Providing maintenance and configuration to internal test equipment
* Ensuring compliance to the company stock control and inventory processes
* Ensuring compliance to the company hardware processes
* Supporting installs of IT systems on location
* Recommending and supporting implementation of improvements
Skills, experience and qualifications
* Ability to diagnose and repair IT problems autonomously
* Good understanding of a broad range of networking protocols including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SMTP, FTP, HTTP(S), SSH
* Experience supporting MS Windows XP, 7 and 8 desktop and laptop PCs as well as MS Office programs
* Understanding of firewall principles, virtual environments and VPN/remote working
* Ability to create comprehensive documentation including user manuals
* Willingness to broaden knowledge on a wide range of systems including Linux servers, document management systems, SQL databases, ticketing systems, WAN, version control systems, software developed in house and PIC-NIC
* Full driving license with the willingness to travel to remote sites with possible overnight stays
