Location: Cardiff Hybrid Salary: up to £68,000, depending on experience plus a potential bonus up to £13,600 A hands-on senior role where you'll solve complex technical problems, deliver large and demanding pieces of work, and support the more junior engineers around you, at one of Europe's leading financial businesses About LDMS Founded in 2018, LDMS is part of the LC Financial Holdings group, a three-pillar organisation with over 950 employees across Europe. Between us we have more than 20 years of world-class credit expertise. We build digital lending software in a market growing around 18% a year. We want to lead that space, and to do it we need people who can think, create and challenge each other to find the best solutions for our customers. We have an ambitious to-do list: improving what we've built, building new products, and moving into new markets. The Role You'll join the Engineering team at LDMS as a Senior Engineer, working within a single team and reporting to an Engineering Team Lead. You'll take on challenging problems your team faces, including designing solutions to complex features and writing the design documentation that others build from. You'll work within the technical direction set by your Lead Engineer and be one of the people they rely on to turn that direction into working software. Our stack is React and TypeScript on the frontend, Java with Spring Boot on the backend, and PostgreSQL with schema-per-tenant multi-tenancy underneath, all cloud-hosted on AWS. You'll hold the quality bar for your team through code review, pairing and the example you set, and you'll lead the delivery of large features. Mentoring and growing more junior engineers is a core part of the job. As you develop, your influence will start to reach beyond your own team. This is a senior hands-on role, not a line-management one. Key Responsibilities These may change with the needs of the business, but the main areas are: Technical Skills Design solutions to complex features and write the design documentation that other engineers build from. Hold the technical quality bar for your team through code review, pairing and the example you set. Spot gaps in testing, security or performance across your team's work, and fix them or make the case for fixing them. Work within the technical direction and standards set by your Lead Engineer and feedback into them where you see a better approach. Watch for scaling, reliability and operability problems before they cause incidents and help keep the team's work observable and secure. Delivery Lead the delivery of large features, involving other engineers. Turn vague or unclear requirements into concrete engineering work the team can pick up. Keep the team's delivery standards up, and step in when they slip rather than waiting to be asked. Make sound decisions when the information is incomplete and keep work moving when requirements change or things get blocked. Impact Make a real difference to your team's output, quality and technical ability. Help junior and mid engineers get better through pairing, honest feedback and giving them work that stretches them. Contribute to department-wide engineering standards and documentation. Help shape your team's goals and technical plans and connect the work back to what the business is trying to achieve. Take part in hiring, running technical interviews and giving well-reasoned assessments of candidates. Communication Explain technical decisions clearly to both engineers and people without a technical background. Write things down well, such as designs, technical documentation and runbooks that other people can pick up and use. Help the team reach agreement on hard or contested technical questions. Give clear, specific and kind feedback in code reviews. Inform your Engineering Team Lead promptly when a piece of work is failing behind, rather than letting it surface late. AI and Innovation Explore new tools, including AI, and help bring the genuinely useful tools into your team's day-to-day work while being honest about where they fall short. Follow the team's agreed approach to AI-assisted work so that what gets produced stays consistent, secure and good quality. Maria Head of Finance & Administration I joined Philip Payne on the 1st September 1999 as part-time Sales Administrator having previously worked in the insurance industry. In 2002, I took on Accounting Duties whilst studying part time to achieve my AAT Qualifications. In 2005, I became a qualified Member of the AAT (MAAT) and took over the responsibility for Management Accounts at Philip Payne. In 2010, my role expanded to take on Management Accounts for Philip Payne's sister business - Solite Europe in Stockport for a 6 year period following their acquisition by our parent company FW Thorpe plc. Starting as an apprentice and studying at college. This allowed me to gain knowledge of the business but also developing and learning at the same time. The company and wider group have always been very supportive of this structure and this allowed me to be promoted to Head of Technical in June 2023. One of the proudest achievements is being a key part in developing and delivering the industry leading Oak Exit Sign - ARDEN. Will Technical Services Engineer After being made redundant from a previous employer due to the struggles of COVID-19, I joined Philip Payne in October 2020 as a second year apprentice and I really landed on my feet. Having a supportive team around me I was able to complete my apprenticeship in October 2023 and was given the opportunity to further develop my career by going to university. Supported by Philip Payne, I am now studying for my bachelor's degree in electrical and electronic engineering along side working in the technical department as part of technical services. As part of the technical team, every day is different which is what I really enjoy about the job. The variety of the role means I am always occupied as one day I could be thermal testing a luminaire and the next I could be on the train to Newcastle to commission our Specto-XT products. The technical services role has allowed me to develop my skills in key areas such as computer aided design, web development, product development, sustainability, fault finding and many more. One of my earliest and proudest achievements would be when I designed the replacement gear tray for Birmingham New Street's exit signs, converting them from fluorescent to LED. I am reminded of this every time I get the train into the city centre. It is nice to see your work when you are out and about. Philip Payne and the rest of the group are proud of their apprentice development as a lot of the management have come through the apprenticeship scheme. As an ex-apprentice, looking to further develop my career, this gives me assurance that I will be supported in the future when looking to progress into a more senior role. Craig Heading up the Sales function, as Sales Director for Philip Payne, I take care of full profit and loss responsibility of the sales across the business. I oversee and manage the team and customer experience within Philip Payne. I joined Philip Payne's sister brand, Thorlux, as Export Director in 2013. In that role, I'm proud of having driven a 100% growth performance across all regions. I transferred to Philip Payne in 2019. I really value the family feel here, how we are all connected, and how we are working towards our company vision. Inder Assembly Operative I joined Philip Payne here in Solihull in 2007 and have worked on the assembly line ever since. It's a very happy place with nice, hardworking people and I've never had any problems. I've been here so long that I almost know how to make everything off by heart! It's always a little stressful when we have a new product to make but there's always help at hand. Dave & Jim We're twin brothers. Jim is Philip Payne's longest serving employee, having joined in July 1980 with Dave joining in August 1983. We have both celebrated our 40 year long service awards presented to us by FW Thorpe plc's Group Chairman Mike Allcock. Dave's current role is in Technical Assembly Supervisor and Jim's is Metal Fabrication Supervisor within Production. Dave previously worked for our father doing electrical installation and contracting work. This included building one off specials for TV companies. I started at Philip Payne as one of the assembly workers. As well as in assembly, he has had various other roles including stores / goods in and technical. My role in the company has developed as the company has significantly grown. We are proud of the prestigious sites that have Philip Payne lighting installed in them. Its always a pleasure to see signs made by Philip Payne in many prestigious offices, hotels, castles and hospitals. Philip Payne has a friendly atmosphere to work in, plus we live close to the factory, so a short commute is always good - but, being key holders, that also has its disadvantages at times when there is an alarm call!

The Arctic is a place of extremes: unforgiving, untamed, and undergoing rapid change. A literal defrosting reveals a multi-trillion-dollar opportunity spanning energy, defence, logistics, research, and infrastructure. ARD was founded on a paradox. The Arctic is both the next great economic frontier and one of the most hostile environments on Earth. Rich in resources and strategically vital, yet bone-chillingly cold, dark for months, and fundamentally inhospitable to humans. This paradox-an explosion of activity in a place that resists human presence-is why we exist. Our solution is autonomy. We build systems that operate reliably and intelligently in the Arctic, so that humans don't always have to. Founded by record-holding pioneers with decades of polar experience, we take calculated risks on hard problems that matter. If you want to build and deploy ground-up technology with real-world impact, at an inflection point in history that won't reappear, we'd like to talk. The role We're hiring our first Product Security Engineer. Security Engineering at ARD blends sharp technical skill, an attacker's mindset, and tangible real-world stakes. You'll operate across our entire hardware and software product suite - cloud infrastructure, applications, identity systems, and the autonomous products we field - spotting and cutting down the risks that actually matter. The systems we run and the data we hold call for a security approach that's thorough, flexible, and woven into everything we do. Your work will directly underpin the trust partners, customers, and the public place in us, while keeping our teams free to build and ship with confidence. Given how high the stakes are at ARD, this is core to delivering our mission the right way. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES Spot, evaluate, and rank security risks across our systems, products, and infrastructure - separating hypothetical worries from genuine threats to the business Build and roll out practical security controls across cloud platforms, applications, products, and data, and help engineering teams do likewise Build and use threat models to catch architectural weak points, trust boundary gaps, and failure modes before they turn into incidents Work alongside engineering, product, and operations teams as a trusted security partner - offering patterns, guidance, and guardrails rather than acting as a gatekeeper Play a part in detecting, investigating, and containing security incidents, and push for lasting fixes based on what we learn Cut down on manual, reactive security work through automation, better tooling, and secure-by-default habits built into how we develop and run systems Apply technical rigour to assurance work like audits, certifications, and customer security reviews - making sure our controls hold up in practice, not just on paper WHAT WE VALUE Deep, hands-on skill in one or two security domains - application security, cloud security, identity and access management, cryptography, detection and response, or platform security - backed by real evidence of impact An instinct for trust boundaries, failure modes, blast radius, and attacker behaviour, rather than viewing vulnerabilities in isolation A knack for turning complex security risk into terms that land with engineers, product managers, and senior leadership alike, and for shaping outcomes through persuasion rather than title A risk-based approach - weighing decisions proportionately under uncertainty, and always asking whether the work cuts real risk rather than just checking a compliance box Comfort juggling multiple teams and technical domains at once without losing quality or judgement A history of finding gaps and pushing security fixes through to completion, even in messy or loosely defined problem spaces BONUS POINTS Time spent in or around regulated, high-assurance, or defence-adjacent settings where security demands are intricate and failure carries real weight Practical offensive security background - red teaming, penetration testing, or adversarial simulation - that shapes how you think about defensive design and threat modelling Awareness of security issues unique to AI or machine learning systems, such as model integrity, data pipeline security, or adversarial ML A hand in building security programmes at scale - security champions networks, secure development lifecycle tooling, or company-wide risk frameworks A background in cloud-native security engineering, especially across AWS, GCP, or Azure, spanning infrastructure-as-code, container security, and cloud identity patterns Some exposure to supply chain security issues, such as dependency management, build pipeline integrity, or third-party component assurance Experience working with classified data, government security frameworks, or cross-domain security requirements WHAT WE OFFER Competitive compensation Equity - meaningful options as an early employee at an early-stage company Real field exposure - travel to Arctic sites and Outposts when needed (genuinely, not as a gimmick) Mission-driven culture - focus on impact, not hours logged Small team, real ownership - what you build matters and ships A note on who we want to hear from We're building for one of the most demanding environments on Earth and we believe diverse teams build more resilient systems. We actively welcome applications from people who are underrepresented - whether that's by gender, ethnicity, disability, or background.

We actively welcome applications from people who are underrepresented - whether that's by gender, ethnicity, disability, or background.
