Senior AI Enablement Engineer
United States Digital Space LLC
Job Description We are hiring a Senior AI Enablement Engineer to help shape how software engineering teams adopt, use, and scale AI assisted development across the organization. This is not a traditional full stack role, and it is not a "prompt engineering" role. You will work at the intersection of software engineering, developer experience, AI tooling, platform standards, governance, and engineering enablement. You will build the paved roads that allow engineers to use AI tools safely and effectively: standards, reusable workflows, automation, evaluation approaches, observability, documentation, and internal platform capabilities. The goal is to make AI assisted engineering reliable, measurable, secure, and aligned with enterprise software delivery standards. You will work closely with engineering teams, platform teams, security, architecture, product, and AI stakeholders to turn AI adoption from isolated experimentation into a sustainable engineering capability. You Will Own and deliver AI enablement capabilities that improve how engineering teams use AI tools across the software development lifecycle. Design and build internal tools, workflows, templates, integrations, and automation that make AI assisted development safer, faster, and more consistent. Create and maintain engineering standards, guidance, and reusable patterns for AI assisted software delivery. Help teams adopt AI development tools responsibly, with clear expectations around verification, quality, security, and maintainability. Work with engineers and stakeholders to understand real delivery pain points and translate them into practical enablement solutions. Build or integrate capabilities around AI assisted coding, documentation, testing, code review, onboarding, and knowledge retrieval. Contribute to AI governance implementation by helping translate policy and security expectations into usable engineering workflows. Support observability and measurement for AI adoption, including usage insights, effectiveness, quality signals, and operational risks. Partner with platform, architecture, AppSec, and infrastructure teams to ensure AI tools are integrated safely into the enterprise environment. Coach and support engineers through workshops, documentation, demos, and hands on enablement. Operate with high autonomy in a fast moving area where ambiguity is expected and practical ownership is essential. AI & Engineering Enablement Mindset Strong interest in how AI is changing software engineering, developer workflows, and engineering productivity. Practical experience using AI development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Cursor, or similar tools. Ability to distinguish between AI experimentation and production grade engineering practices. Strong belief that AI output must be verified, tested, reviewed, secured, and aligned with engineering standards. Comfortable working across technical implementation, team enablement, stakeholder communication, and operational rollout. Curious about areas such as AI agents, MCP, RAG, evals, prompt/workflow design, AI observability, and developer productivity measurement. The Impact You Will Have Help engineering teams adopt AI in a way that is practical, safe, and aligned with enterprise standards. Reduce inconsistent AI usage by creating clear workflows, reusable patterns, and trusted guidance. Improve developer experience by removing friction from common engineering tasks. Help establish measurable AI adoption practices across software engineering. Contribute to the next generation of AI enabled engineering capability within the Investor Services organization. Qualifications Required 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong ownership of complex systems, platforms, or engineering capabilities. Strong proficiency in TypeScript and modern JavaScript. Experience with modern frontend frameworks, preferably Vue.js 3, and scalable frontend architecture patterns. Experience working across frontend and backend boundaries, including APIs, integrations, services, and data flows. Strong engineering fundamentals: clean architecture, maintainability, automated testing, code reviews, CI/CD, and production readiness. Experience designing reusable technical standards, shared libraries, templates, platform tooling, or developer experience improvements. Ability to work with multiple engineering teams, understand their delivery challenges, and create practical solutions that scale. Strong written communication skills, with the ability to create clear technical guidance, onboarding material, and adoption documentation. Ability to operate in ambiguity, structure unclear problems, and move from discovery to delivery. Security conscious engineering mindset, especially when introducing new tools, automation, or AI assisted workflows. Preferred Experience with AI assisted development tools in real software delivery, not only experimentation. Experience building internal platforms, developer tooling, engineering productivity tools, or paved road capabilities. Experience with Node.js, Python, or another backend language. Experience with cloud based systems, preferably AWS. Experience with observability concepts such as logs, metrics, traces, usage telemetry, and operational dashboards. Experience in regulated or enterprise environments with strong governance, security, and release discipline. Experience with design systems, frontend platform standards, accessibility, and reusable UI patterns. Experience with knowledge retrieval, documentation systems, RAG style workflows, or internal engineering knowledge platforms. Experience designing lightweight evaluation approaches for AI generated outputs, automation, or agentic workflows. Experience coaching engineers, running workshops, or driving adoption of new engineering practices.

We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team. As part of a lean, agile team, you'll have a high degree of autonomy, ownership and direct impact on customers, with the opportunity to help shape the architecture of the company's platform as we grow. We provide modern tooling, including a generous AI/tooling budget, and encourage thoughtful use of AI assisted development where it improves speed, understanding, and quality. The team is distributed between the U.K. and U.S., where we maintain a hybrid office for collaboration and deep technical work. What you'll work on: Core APIs and services that drive the company editor, multiplayer collaboration, asset management, and the company Marketplace. Database architecture and optimization, designing schemas and queries that perform at scale and evolve with our product. Customer facing applications for authentication, accounts, billing, and team management. Observability and telemetry, building insight into how our systems behave and how customers use the company. File and asset storage systems, including object storage, CDN distribution and caching layers for fast, reliable access. Real time infrastructure for live collaboration, syncing thousands of changes per second across sessions with low latency. Distributed background systems for rendering, asset conversion, and large scale task orchestration. Scalability and reliability engineering, ensuring the company stays fast and stable as we grow. Security, compliance, and permissions models that protect our customers and meet enterprise grade standards. Tech Stack includes: Node.js (TypeScript & JavaScript), Dart/Flutter, C++, MySQL (Aurora), Redis, OpenSearch, AWS (Fargate, Lambda, CloudWatch), Docker, Terraform, GitHub Actions Requirements 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, specifically in backend and infrastructure. Proven track record of owning and delivering backend services for scaling SaaS based products that are widely relied upon by active users. Node.js experience, or strong experience in multiple programming languages and evidence of learning new ones quickly. Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred), infrastructure as code, and container orchestration. Strong SQL skills, including hands on experience with query analysis and optimization. Ability to work independently in ambiguous situations: seek out requirements, make sound decisions, and prioritize effectively. Excellent communication skills, with willingness to work directly with customers when needed. Benefits £120k-£135k or $170-195k USD base salary + stock options Unlimited holiday (PTO) and comprehensive health benefits Parental leave Regular team meetups and travel opportunities Hybrid flexible work environment with Offices in London (Farringdon) and San Francisco (Potrero Hill) Coffee and lunch on us when you're in the office Compensation may depend on the level of experience and geographic location. the company is where designers, animators, and developers build interactive experiences. Design, animate, and code in one place. What you build in the editor is what ships in your app, game, or website. No mockups, no prototypes, no handoff. The real thing. With the company, designers and developers work with the same tools. No silos. What you see in the editor is what ships in production. Companies like Spotify, Duolingo, LinkedIn, Google, and Fortune 500 automakers use our open-source runtimes to build once and ship everywhere - websites, apps, games, and vehicles. We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team. As part of a lean, agile team, you'll have a high degree of autonomy, ownership and direct impact on customers, with the opportunity to help shape the architecture of the company's platform as we grow. We're looking for someone who is passionate about the backend and brings lessons learned from scaling SaaS platforms that were used by thousands of active users. About the Backend Team The backend team builds and operates the systems behind the company's cloud platform, focusing on the services and infrastructure that provide the core APIs, real time collaboration, file storage, and background processing for the editor. We also own a few full stack services that power the marketplace and customer facing experiences. How we work With a high degree of autonomy and ownership, engineers are trusted to identify problems, shape solutions, and drive the technical direction of the platform. Everyone contributes to architectural decisions and has a broad impact across our stack. While our focus is on backend systems, there are also opportunities to influence and contribute to other parts of the company, including the editor and the runtimes. Collaboration is core to our culture - teams across the company work closely to design, build, and evolve our product together. Visa sponsorship is not available. The successful candidate will be required to provide evidence of their right to work in the U.K. or U.S. prior to commencing employment. You will contribute across frontend and backend systems, with a strong focus on reliability, scalability, and usability. You will build and evolve APIs and microservices, and help integrate modern AI capabilities into production experiences where they add clear user value. The role requires strong technical judgment, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to move from concept through delivery in a fast-paced environment. You will join a high-performing team with a strong delivery culture and a commitment to building practical, high-impact developer tools. How will I use AI at Roku? At Roku, we don't just use AI, we work with it. AI agents and smart tools help power drafts, analysis, and repetitive workflows, while our people bring direction, judgment, and accountability. We're looking for curious, adaptable builders who can show how they've used AI or automation to move faster, raise the bar, and scale their impact. We value your AI skills if you have built fluency across the agentic engineering toolchain - coding harnesses like Claude Code or Cursor, MCP servers, custom skills, or agent frameworks - and can describe projects where you shipped real work with these tools. You know how to drive an agent, verify its output, and ramp on an unfamiliar codebase with an agent helping you. What are the responsibilities of the role? Design and build full stack web applications using React and Node.js Integrate AI capabilities including LLM-driven experiences where appropriate Develop APIs and microservices that connect tools, data, and platform workflows Deploy, scale, and monitor services in cloud environments using Kubernetes Build robust, highly available backend and frontend systems for developer-facing use cases Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and deliver partner and internal tooling Troubleshoot production issues and improve performance and reliability Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices What experience would help someone be successful in this role at Roku? Proven full stack engineering experience with production web applications Strong skills in TypeScript, JavaScript, React, and Node.js Experience with backend development in Python or Go and frameworks such as FastAPI Familiarity with PostgreSQL, Redis, and REST API design and integration Experience with test-driven development and CI/CD workflows Experience integrating AI technologies such as OpenAI, LangChain, or RAG pipelines Understanding of authentication and authorization approaches including OpenID and SAML Experience deploying cloud-native services on AWS with containerized infrastructure and Kubernetes Experience with message queuing systems such as RabbitMQ or Apache Kafka Demonstrated AI/agentic-tooling fluency per the section above Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Communications, or a related field What's Roku's approach to hybrid working? Roku fosters an inclusive and collaborative environment where teams generally work in the office Monday through Thursday. Fridays are generally flexible for remote work, except for employees whose specific roles or assigned office location require five days' a week attendance. What are some of the benefits? Roku is committed to offering a diverse range of benefits as part of our compensation package to support our employees and their families. Our comprehensive benefits include global access to mental health and financial wellness support and resources. Local benefits include statutory and voluntary benefits which may include healthcare (medical, dental, and vision), life, accident, disability, commuter, and retirement options (401(k)/pension). It's important to note that not every benefit is available in all locations or for every role. For details specific to your location, please consult with your recruiter. Accommodations Roku welcomes applicants of all backgrounds and provides reasonable accommodations and adjustments in accordance with applicable law. If you require reasonable accommodation at any point in the hiring process, please direct your inquiries to . What should I know about Roku's culture? Roku is a great place for people who want to work in a fast-paced environment where everyone is focused on the company's success rather than their own. We try to surround ourselves with people who are great at their jobs, who are easy to work with, and who keep their egos in check. We appreciate a sense of humor. We believe a fewer number of very talented folks can do more for less cost than a larger number of less talented teams. We're independent thinkers with big ideas who act boldly, move fast and accomplish extraordinary things through collaboration and trust. In short, at Roku you'll be part of a company that's changing how the world watches TV. We have a unique culture that we are proud of. We think of ourselves primarily as problem-solvers, which itself is a two-part idea. We come up with the solution, but the solution isn't real until it is built and delivered to the customer. That penchant for action gives us a pragmatic approach to innovation, one that has served us well since 2002.
