Due to business growth, we are looking to recruit for an Embedded Software Engineer for a leading Subsea/ Oil and Gas engineering company based in Newcastle. The main purpose of the role is to develop and design new control system for the business under instruction of more senior members of the team to help develop new ways of working and enhance capabilities of machinery produced. The ideal candidate will be degree qualified in Software Engineering or a related field with exposure to embedded software design. Candidates will have experience in developing applications using real-time operating systems (RTOS) such as ubuntu. Experience with ROS2.0 DDS/ Azure Portal /Matlab Simulink are all desirable Hours - Monday - Thurs (Apply online only) / Friday 0830 - 12 Hybrid working available - 3 days in the office as a minimum Key Responsibilities: Develop and maintain software using C/C++ Work with microcontroller architectures (e.g. ARM) and implement and manage hardware interfaces like UART, CAN, USB Utilize debugging tools Develop and maintain device drivers for various hardware components and work within embedded Linux environments as needed Optimize code for performance, memory usage, and power efficiency Implement and manage industrial communication protocols like TCP/IP Ensure the security of embedded systems through proper protocol implementation Version control and collaborative development Create and maintain clear technical documentation, including design documents, test reports, and user manuals Qualifications & Skills: Degree in Software Engineering / Computer Science/Electronic Engineering or related/equivalent subject.
