SD-WAN Network Engineer (Cisco Viptela & Wireless) - Warwick (Hybrid) - SC Eligible

Location: Warwick (Hybrid 2x-3x days onsite per week)
Duration: 6 months (strong extension potential)
Clearance: SC eligible/SC cleared candidates only
Travel: Ad-hoc travel to UK sites required (for Wi-Fi surveys)

We're recruiting an experienced Senior UK-based Network Engineer to support a major programme modernising a large-scale UK enterprise network. This work includes replacing end-of-life network hardware, deploying enhanced enterprise Wi-Fi, and provisioning high-speed Internet connectivity services overlaid with Cisco SD-WAN (Viptela). The programme also explores alternative connectivity options such as satellite and private 5G for disaster recovery and rapid deployment.

A key part of this role is delivering comprehensive wireless surveys and RF design work, including on-site physical surveys and desktop surveys using Ekahau.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and support Cisco SD-WAN (Viptela) connectivity overlays across multiple sites.
• Deliver enterprise Wi-Fi improvements including wireless surveys, RF design, and deployment planning.
• Conduct on-site Wi-Fi surveys and desktop surveys using Ekahau, producing clear, actionable outputs.
• Configure and troubleshoot routing (BGP/OSPF) and support WAN/Internet carrier connectivity services.
• Configure and troubleshoot Cisco LAN switching (L2/L3) including STP/RSTP/MSTP, VLANs, EtherChannel, stacking, QoS, and network segmentation/redundancy.
• Produce detailed high-level/low-level designs, implementation plans, and operational support models/runbooks.
• Engage and coordinate with stakeholders across multiple environments, vendors, and internal teams.

Mandatory Skills & Experience

• Cisco CCNP (minimum) (active certification or equivalent level).
• SC eligible or SC cleared (must meet UK security clearance requirements).
• Strong hands-on experience with Cisco SD-WAN (Viptela).
• Deep wireless expertise including Wireless LAN solutions:
  • Cisco WLAN
  • Cisco ISE
  • Aruba WLAN
  • Aruba ClearPass
• Strong experience with Wi-Fi survey tooling (Ekahau), RF design, and enterprise wireless deployment.
• Strong routing knowledge including BGP and OSPF, plus understanding of carrier WAN and Internet offerings and cloud network services.
• Strong Cisco switching expertise: STP/RSTP/MSTP, VLANs, EtherChannel, switch stacking, QoS, segmentation and redundancy.
• Ability to attend site surveys and work hybrid in Warwick (2-3 days/week).

Desirable (Bonus) Skills

• CCIE (any relevant track).
• CWNP (Certified Wireless Networking Professional).
• Experience with private 5G solutions (eg, Cradlepoint) and/or satellite connectivity for DR/rapid deployment.
• Previous experience on large multi-site network refresh/modernisation programmes.
