HPC Consultant: High Performance Computing, Kubernetes, OpenFoam - 5 day Contract
Our enterprise client is looking for a HPC Principal Consultant to join their team.
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: 5 days
Pay Rate: £413 p/d (PLEASE NOTE: Employer NI is paid for by the client)
Total Daily Earnings: £470 p/d (includes rolled up holiday)
IR35 Status: Inside
Location: Derby
NOTE: Active SC Clearance is highly desirable.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct interviews with customer staff covering the following areas:
- Current infrastructure and use cases of HPC.
- Market view of container technologies and options for HPC Use Cases
- Solution Discovery
Technical Skills:
- Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including:
- Job Scheduling (Slurm at Kubernetes), Run:AI and GPU slicing.
- Jupyter ecosystem (Hubs/Labs/Notebooks) for Data Scientists workflows.
- Evaluating Kubernetes vs. Beowulf cluster architectures for HPC.
- Skillset and knowledge gap analysis of the team with respect to: Best practices for MPI-optimized container images, including OpenMPI with Apptainer (SIF), Podman/Buildah tooling, and other alternatives.
Experience in CFD software such as:
- OpenFOAM.
- MPI, OpenFOAM
- NVIDIA BCM
- MPI, slurm: job scheduler
- Apptainer/Singularity, docker, podman
- SIF format
- HPC Workflows
- Beowulf clusters
- Kubernetes as HPC runtime environment
Soft Skills:
- A strong desire to help others by sharing knowledge, peer reviewing, and contributing to technical and process standards
- Work well within a team, report issues and risks, take part in team meetings, share ideas and work towards improving our service.
- Excellent written & verbal communication with customers to understand and to influence.
