Infrastructure Engineer (Field Based) Up to £31k Plus on-call allowance + benefits In commuting range of Lancaster (office base) The opportunity: This is a chance to join an established and growing connectivity provider in a role where you ll be involved in delivering real customer infrastructure projects across the UK. Rather than being tied to a helpdesk or internal support function, you ll be out working on-site as part of a project delivery team helping to install and maintain the network connectivity that businesses rely on every day. The work is practical and hands-on. You ll gain exposure to fibre installations, structured cabling, wireless deployments and general WAN connectivity, supporting projects from initial installation through to troubleshooting and ongoing support. There is flexibility around background. The hiring manager is particularly keen to speak with people who are early in their technical career but have already had some exposure to working on installs or infrastructure in a real-world environment and want to build on that experience. Day to day Your time will be spent supporting the delivery of infrastructure projects across customer sites. Some days will involve installing new connectivity solutions, while others will focus on fault finding, testing network performance or providing technical support to ensure projects are delivered successfully. You ll work closely with both internal teams and customers, travelling to different locations across the UK and gaining exposure to a wide range of environments. The role also includes participation in an on-call rota, so a flexible and proactive approach is important. Who we are looking for We re looking to speak with people who have previously worked in a practical technical role such as data cabling, telecoms engineering, wireless installation or field-based IT support. You don t need to be a fully fledged network engineer, but an interest in networking and a desire to develop technically will go a long way. Being within a commutable distance of Lancaster is important, as you ll often start or finish your day from the office or local project locations. A full UK driving licence is essential, along with a willingness to travel and work in varied environments. Just as important as technical exposure is attitude. This role will suit someone reliable, hands-on and keen to build a long-term career within infrastructure delivery and networking. The Next Steps If this sounds like something you d be open to exploring, or you d like to understand the business, projects and progression opportunities in more detail, you ve got a few options. You can call Joe White at CRG TEC for a straightforward conversation about the role. You can also drop Joe a message and he ll come back to you. Or, if you re happy with what you ve read, send your CV across and Joe will give you a call to talk it through properly.
