My client are looking for a DV cleared Unix Engineer to join them on a 6 month contract within the defence sector. The role will be based in Gloucestershire and they will be paying up to £400 per day!!
As a Unix Engineer you will be required to be proficient in RedHat Enterprise Linux 5/6/7.x (Ideally with certification) and /or Solaris 10/11.x Have experience with installations, monitoring, troubleshooting. Firm understanding and experience of Security and related hardening practices, Remote provisioning technologies, RHNS and Shell scripting.
Desirable;
VMWARE (vsphere), AD, DHCP, DNS, NIS, Unix/Linux performance tuning and knowledge of kernel tuning.
Understanding of patching (YUM)
Basic understanding of networking and Storage Technologies
Attributes;
Self-starter with the ability to take ownership of work, whilst demonstrating a tenacity to pursue problems to resolution and the confidence to challenge thinking and suggest novel approaches to problems.
An understanding of competencies associated with other technical towers Storage connectivity, RAID and zoning TCP/IP technology, Network classes/CIDR. LINUX
