The successful candidate will find themselves working on avionics programmes at various stages of the software development lifecycle, applying modern software engineering techniques on existing and new programmes. The successful candidate will have language, domain knowledge and experience relevant to the defence avionics embedded products. The successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to combine that with their technical knowledge to underpin their technical decision making.
Responsibilities
Initially this role will be with a team in the development cycle of a defence avionics embedded processing system. The Lead Software Engineer will be responsible for planning and guiding a Software Team in the development and verification of software to applicable standards.
The Lead Software Engineer will perform the following activities for software:
Plan and coordinate a large Software Team.
Control the team budget & schedule.
Be the design authority for the Software.
Chair team meetings & reviews.
The Lead Software Engineer will be expected to represent the company in a professional capacity, supporting programme delivery and business development, with our customers.
Education/Experience
A minimum qualification of a 2:1 honours degree (Software Engineering or related discipline) or equivalent is required.
Be able to demonstrate an advanced understanding of the challenges associated with software engineering of avionics equipment.
Be able to demonstrate sufficient relevant software engineering and domain competence across most of the aspects captured below:
