Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service is looking to recruit a 3rd Line ICT Support Engineer to assist in ensuring the IT infrastructure, Systems and Data are fit for purpose, secure, subject to continual improvement, and that our end-users are provided excellent support and customer service.
As a 3rd Line ICT Support Engineer, you will be responsible for providing support for a range of infrastructure technologies, including networking, switches, firewalls, windows servers, end user systems, station end equipment (mobile devices, pagers, alerters), supporting system administrators and troubleshooting issues across the ICT estate.
Known for your customer-focused approach, you will support the Service’s users, assisting in diagnosing and solving issues across our ICT infrastructure, systems and data including physical, virtual and cloud environments.
You will assist the ICT Service Delivery Manager in providing excellent support to business-critical applications, requiring you to possess excellent time management and organisational skills, communications skills, alongside a broad technical knowledge.
You will be able to demonstrate:
Excellent ICT Problem solving in a mission critical environment.
A strong understanding of networking technologies, including switches & firewalls.
A strong understanding of Microsoft Windows operating system technologies.
A strong understanding of virtualised server and desktop provision.
A strong understanding of cloud-based infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities Provide 3rd line support for infrastructure incidents, service requests, and changes. Troubleshoot and resolve issues across hybrid server environments. Support secure key management systems (HSMs) including deployment, configuration, and maintenance. Contribute to incident and problem analysis, including root cause identification. Monitor and manage call queues, escalating where necessary. Work closely with other technical teams and adhere to security policies. Maintain accurate records in ITSM tools and contribute to SLA reporting. Skills & Experience Essential 5+ years supporting large-scale hybrid environments. Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Entra ID, VMware/Hyper-V. Hands-on experience with Thales Luna HSMs and PEDs (deployment, configuration, troubleshooting). Familiarity with ITIL processes (Incident, Request, Problem, Change). Confident communicator with excellent problem-solving skills. PowerShell scripting for automation and reporting. Current SC clearance (or eligibility to obtain). Desirable Experience in identity services (Authentication, Federation, Conditional Access). DNS/DHCP and networking services support.
