Senior APEX Developer (SC Cleared) 6 Month Contract 2 days per week on site in Plymouth, Bristol or Leicester £550 per day (Inside IR35) My client, in the defence industry are looking for a Senior APEX Developer to join their fast-paced Digital Solutions Team. The selected candidate would be playing an active role in the through life engineering support to the UK naval fleet support, ensuring that submarines and submariners go to sea safely. *Please note - The selected candidate MUST HAVE Active SC Clearance to be considered for this role* Responsibilities in the role- Lead requirement analysis, production, and review of technical design solutions of large/complex programmes, supporting the UK submarine fleet. Lead efficient software development using good design - considering code reuse and efficiencies as well as innovative implementation methodologies. Apply technical experience and knowledge in the evaluation of solutions and maintain technical awareness to a level where alternatives can be advised, analysed and modelled. Experience and Skills required for the role- In-depth knowledge of the Oracle APEX web-based application development toolset and its use to design and develop web applications. Demonstrable competence developing complex Server Side PL/SQL code for data input validation and data import/export. JavaScript knowledge and experience. Disciplined and methodical approach to configuration control. To attend workshops/reviews/stand-ups to discuss the development project, demonstrate progress to date and communicate with project stakeholders. Share knowledge with team members within the company. To collaborate closely with BAs, PMs, DBA and Infra resources to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions. You'll be joining a team of 6, who are responsible for the paying of salaries, allowances and pensions to the UK Armed Forces and Veterans. The team also administer and pay compensation to injured service personnel, and run the associated technical infrastructure and applications. As a key player in the Joint Personnel Application (JPA) programme, it was implemented to modernise the way the Armed Services carry out personnel and pay administration. The MI & Reporting Service Team's Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE), soon to be replaced by OAS (Oracle Analytics Server), capability provides whole lifecycle engineering for changes, functionality and provides corrective maintenance fixes and supports. The Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) process is undergoing an upgrade and will be moving to Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) and so we are looking for people with good experience in this area. What you will be doing: Design, develop and unit test improvements to the ETL. Create and submit RCB documentation - gaining all vital permissions and ensuring relevant Dimensions work has been complete for specific release. Check overnight ETL, and investigate and fix any failures. Monitor availability of all OAS services (presentation and BI servers) and work with DBAs to resolve any issues. Supervise Serena Incident inbox, investigate any problems that arise, resolve and advise users where appropriate. Build a plan to fix problem where there is a real issue. Create and test fixes to problems. This may involve corrections / upgrades in ODI, Database, BI Repository and Webcat and document as appropriate. What you'll bring: Experience of PL/SQL. Experience of ODI version 12.2.1.3 or above. OAS (Oracle Analytics Server) R5.9 (and previous product incarnations) including development of the BI Repository and Webcat. It would be great if you had: Experience using APEX Business knowledge of the UK MoD personnel and pay systems and processes. Experience in close teamwork and cross-team working with clients both during on-site collocations, and as part of a remote team.
