Senior VDI Engineer - Full-time, Permanent Position (37.5 hours) £61,082 - £64,297 Based: Farringdon, London - the post holder will also be required to attend weekly team meetings on a Tuesday at our Twickenham office (TW1 3RP). This is a hybrid working role, requiring regular office attendance. This role: The Senior VDI Engineer will be the primary VDI technical lead. They will administer the day-to-day operations of the current Citrix infrastructure and service, as well as any VDI technology adopted in the future. They will work with the Architecture, Service Delivery and Service Desk Teams, as well as the wider Technology Department to effectively support and administer the full lifecycle of VDI infrastructure operations, services, projects and initiatives. They will manage and maintain the VDI Work Plan, and the delivery of the VDI Annual Continuous Service Improvement Plan. We have circa 2400 users, 350 applications, 450 on-prem servers (on VMware), and 1800 laptops. We also deliver remote access to network services via Citrix virtual desktops from legacy and new systems for up to 450 licensed users. MTVH currently operates its technology services across 3 main AD domains. There is a project in-flight to migrate required applications, data, systems and hardware assets to the (MTVH) AD domain. What you'll need to succeed An experienced enterprise Citrix SME and engineer, comfortable being the highest point of escalation for Citrix issues in a high uptime and change controlled environment. This is an operational role which will primarily focus on managing, maintaining, supporting and continuously improving the existing Citrix environment. The role will be the technical lead on VDI projects. There will be little scope for project work outside of this. We are looking for engineering level background in Citrix and VDI permanent roles (i.e. no consultants, freelance, self-employed etc) Candidates must demonstrate strong experience with our Citrix technology stack comprising a new Citrix DaaS with two legacy CVAD environments, VMware-based on-prem hosting transitioning to XenServer, ShareFile, and dedicated storage infrastructure built on PureStorage arrays. They should be self-sufficient and resourceful, possessing troubleshooting abilities that cover server, virtualisation, storage, and networking technologies that support Citrix/VDI for comprehensive problem resolution. Project Engineer – Based in North West London (NW6) Permanent role paying up to £50,000 per annum + benefits (9am to 5:30pm) Requires End to End Networking & Cloud experience Key Responsibilities: • Act as technical resource, in support of project installations which utilise a variety of technologies. • When directed, technically approve planned installations, upgrades and change requests. Ensure that appropriate technical implementation plans, test plans, and contingency plans are in place and ensure that existing systems are not compromised by any proposed changes. • Ensure that acceptance testing and witness testing of new installations and changes to existing installations is carried out before handover to BAU for on-going management. • Ensure that Project Managers and the business are regularly updated on project process. • As requested, create design standards, equipment lists, standardised configurations, test plans etc. for inclusion in proposals and incorporation into project plans. • As directed, provide Technical pre-sales support to the sales team including the preparation of technical proposals and delivery of technical presentations to customers and potential customers. • When requested, review and approve sales proposals from a technical perspective and ensure that any proposed technical solution is in line with company standards and that the solution proposed is appropriate, given financial constraints imposed and that managed technical risk maps are in place. • Ensure that all software, hardware and communication systems recommended for inclusion in system designs are robust, value for money and all risks of failure together with the consequences of failure have been fully identified. • Identify and propose new technologies to the Technical Architecture Manager / Chief Technical Office for consideration. • Understand the road map of all products and solutions the company offers to the client base. • Gain and maintain relevant supplier accreditations, as agreed with the Technical Services Manager, to support this responsibility. • Ensure that the company Change Control process is adhered to. • Ensure that all billable time is correctly logged in the ConnectWise system. • As directed, perform audits of existing and potential client environments to ascertain suitable solutions to propose.
