They are currently looking for an Experienced Wintel Platform Engineer for an initial 6 month period. Our client is on a mission to deliver leading edge technology to some of its key departments. Your new role Provide support to a team of Network engineers in the troubleshooting and resolution of network infrastructure incidents across the service, involving both physical and virtual network switching, routing and firewall equipment. Work with the technical architects, other technical teams and external vendors to produce solutions that are intended to add to or improve functionality to the service. Provide technical leadership to engineering teams to deliver these solutions. Ensure that all new components and installations meet or exceed the RSO internal and regulatory requirements.. Own responsibility for network changes and implement according to agreed business processes. Understand network vulnerability and tooling to maintain and update network infrastructure. Monitor trends to be able to proactively respond to issues to support the business needs. Further develop existing documentation processes, and policies to ensure necessary governance and reporting is in place. Follow the Technology Development Life Cycle in the development of all products, proactively plan and manage upgrades for both virtual and physical networking equipment as appropriate. What you'll need to succeed MUST HAVE SC CLEARANCE Experience in a lead/senior network engineering role. Demonstratable experience with varied routing, firewall, switching and load balancing vendors to expert level. Expert level understanding of Networking Concepts, such as Transmission Control Protocol, Internet Protocol, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, IP Addressing, Variable Length Subnet Masks, Remote Access, cabling systems, wiring topologies, and Network security. Expert understanding of IKE, IPSEC and standard routing protocols (OSPf/BGP). Proven experience of producing and implementing LAN, WAN designs as well as both high- and low-level design documentation. Expert understanding of network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices.
