A newly created role for an Audio Signal Processing Engineer to join the world-class R&D team at this highly respected consumer electronics company, famed for their high performance audio products.
For an accomplished DSP Engineer this position offers a generous salary, great benefits package, well-funded R&D department and access to cutting-edge audio and DSP technologies.
You'll work with a multi-disciplinary team of talented engineers to research and develop audio signal processing techniques, including compressors, filters and other nonlinear processing, with a strong focus on audio performance. You will be contributing significantly to the product development process by evaluating DSP family options, optimising performance, and designing DSP code algorithms, modules and systems.
This is a highly collaborative environment involving work with teams in Asia and the USA so you must be able to communicate and develop shared ideas clearly.
Responsibilities:
- Designing and maintaining DSP code algorithms, modules and systems
- Maintaining and enhancing tuning scripts using MATLAB
- Support architecture choices (ADCs, DACs and ICs)
- Analysing DSP options (ARM, TI, ADI)
- Evaluating audio quality and cost options
- Documenting results
- Occasional travel to Asia to liaise with manufacturers
Skills & Requirements:
- Educated to degree level, or equivalent experience, in electrical engineering, electronic engineering, acoustics or other relevant area
- Significant commercial experience in audio signal processing, or a similar field such as DSP programming with signals and systems
- C for embedded systems, MATLAB and assembly language (ideally SHARC)
- Integrated Development Environments / IDEs for DSP
- Audio coding over bare metal or in an OS
- Understanding of numerical formats - fixed and floating
- GIT or SVN for version control
- Detailed knowledge of sampling theory, filtering theory and spectrum analysis
