Solutions Architect - DSP Inlife London Competitive Salary plus benefits Role: DCC requires an experienced Architect to act as the Design Lead (a senior role) for DCC CTO Programmes to develop, maintain and present the evolving end to end architecture for the design, build, test, implementation and post implementation phases. More importantly to ensure the BAU operations for example upgrading/uplifting the existing DSP systems/processes. The Architect will own the DSP systems and subsystem vision and ensure that the requirements are met and that underlying design principles remain consistent through the delivery journey. The role will also ensure that problems identified in the transition to live operation are resolved in line with the design vision and principles. The role will also represent DCC at external meetings with customers, DESNZ, Industry and Service Providers. It will also be accountable for the design and technical components within DCC. Key Accountabilities: Ownership of a programmes end-to-end architecture, providing functional leadership DSP ( SMETS1/2) to other domain architects (applications, data, infrastructure, security, service) to ensure overall cohesion. Ensuring all services are developed to achieve a single vision and a controlled set of integrated designs. Ownership of key DCC and DCC Service providers design artefacts - High Level Designs, Low Level Designs and Interface Specifications. Development of a roadmap adopting and/or designing new functionality and features to support and reflect market evolution and future direction through a Systems Engineering approach. Ensuring service design is underpinned by common standards and controls used by DCC and its service providers. Ensuring design aligns with DCC target operating model. Ensuring design aligns with DCC enterprise architecture, including providing input to the DCC technology roadmap. Ensuring Service Providers' adherence to standards, policies and principles approved by the DCC Cross Functional Design Authority. Responsible for all technical content within the Programme Design Authority. Ensuring Systems Engineering approach is rigorously applied to all implementation projects and operational changes through assurance processes. Assurance of the DCC's Service Providers' designs including functional, technical and infrastructure designs. Working alongside Programme leadership to engage with senior stakeholders to present and discuss solution designs, including taking the lead on challenges to the design from those stakeholders. Work alongside DCC Strategy and Product Management to provide thought leadership on market innovation opportunities. Skills and Experiences Essential: Excellent written and verbal communication. Excellent stakeholder management, including the ability to communicate technical concepts to various stakeholder groups, including non-technical audiences. Experience of leading design activities for complex, multi-technology, multi-party solutions. Experience in functionally leading design resources to deliver a cohesive end-to-end architecture. Experience in multiple architectural domains, preferably applications and infrastructure, including Cloud adoption. Able to see and articulate the bigger picture, but also capable of delving into the detail where necessary to get the job done. Understanding of key technology risks. Experienced in applying architectural tools and methods. Ownership of ideas from inception to delivery. Experience of working well in a client-facing (or similar) environment. Experience of operating and business solutions within a regulatory context. Able to build relationships across all levels of the organisation. A self-starting individual with a strong work ethic capable of planning and managing own time effectively. Ability to perform under pressure and to work using own initiative as well as part of a team. Ability to manage a portfolio of work to timetable and quality, ensuring that the outputs are developed in an order that reflects Client expectations. Skills and Experiences Desirable: Knowledge of the Smart Meter Implementation Programme (SMETS1/SMETS2). Knowledge of the energy industry. Existing / established relationships with DESNZ, Ofgem and Industry representatives. Knowledge of Smart Energy Code and DCC Licence Conditions.
