About the role You will join our rapidly expanding data practice and will be part of our multi-disciplined teams, building Generative AI-based solutions for clients. You'll work very closely with our customers to iterate, experiment, and prototype solutions for their business challenges. This role will require a strong consultative approach coupled with critical thinking and hands-on NLP and GenAI (RAG) expertise. You'll be a key member in this team, with significant customer exposure, taking them on the journey from early adoption through to scale. You'll have a solid understanding of the foundations required for successful projects across infrastructure, business, data and AI, and be an anchor of the relationship with our customers. Speaking with empathy and credibility will be key. Skills and Experience required 1+ years of focused LLM / GenAI and RAG project experience, preferably in a leadership role; A data science background. NLP experience is key; Fluent in Python, and able to rapidly and independently prototype and develop code, as well as deliver production-quality; Experience in some of the Azure data services; Familiar with best practices on model tuning, drift monitoring and optimisation; Experienced in consulting and stakeholder management, break down business problems and formulate technical solutions. What you will do Understand client requests and business processes to propose how GenAI may solve business challenges; Chain of thought reasoning to build up LLM based solutions; Resource Augmented Generation (RAG) including optimisation of chunking and metadata; Follow Responsible AI principles; Rapidly develop customer demonstrations to show the art of the possible with GenAI; Contribute to Ascent's Gen AI methodology and accelerators; Be a member of our Data Science and Gen AI communities and play a key role in continuing to evolve Ascent's GenAI capability and collateral. Fresh off the back of our large seed-stage investment round, we are looking for an experienced Machine Learning Engineer to lead our ML work streams, and translate product concepts and requirements into a mixture of: research tasks, proof-of-concept applications, and production-ready features. Key Responsibilities: Developing and refining advanced machine learning models for image generation, with a core focus on maintaining control of the output. Fine-tuning latent diffusion models and training new conditioning models. Optimising model performance for speed, quality, and ensuring scalability in a cloud-based environment. Creating and maintaining pipelines for automated model training and deployment. Assisting backend developers to build and maintain data engineering pipelines for downstream data analysis and training tasks against a data warehouse. Collaborating closely with the CTO, product designers, and engineering team to integrate ML models into the core product. Conducting research and staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in machine learning and computer vision relevant to our future roadmap and feature ideas. Mentoring junior ML engineers and data scientists, fostering a collaborative and innovative team culture. Working with the product team to understand user needs, testing and iterating on features to improve the user experience. Requirements: 5+ years of hands-on experience in machine learning, with a focus on deep learning, image generation, and/or computer vision. Good understanding of latent diffusion models, LLMs. Strong programming skills in Python and experience with ML libraries like TensorFlow or PyTorch. Proven experience deploying ML models in production environments, including model optimisation and scaling. Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes). Excellent problem-solving skills and a self-starter attitude. It would be a bonus for you to have: Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, GenAI, or a related field. (Extra bonus!)
