Job Title: Analytics Engineer

Department: Data & Insights

Location: Sheffield or London

Working Pattern: Hybrid, includes 3 days each week in the office

Contract Type: Full time, permanent

Salary: Up to £57,000 per annum

Role overview

As an Analytics Engineer at Tes, you will be an instrumental part of the evolution of our data transformation journey. We're changing the way that Tes utilises its data to empower our business to positively impact the education sector. You'll work closely with our wider data team, as well as with a wide range of our business stakeholders to truly understand the requirements for our data products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Data Engineering & Modelling: Build and maintain robust data pipelines and transformation logic, ensuring data is clean, reliable, and ready for analysis and consumption
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with business teams to understand requirements, identify pain points, and deliver data solutions that meet real business needs
  • Analysis & Insight Generation: Explore and analyse datasets to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights, communicating findings clearly and effectively
  • Data Products & Visualisation: Develop and support scalable data models and contribute to dashboards and reporting solutions that enable self serve analytics, including conversational analytics
What will you need to succeed?
  • Strong SQL skills with demonstrable real world experience
  • Hands on experience with dbt and modern ELT/ETL tools (e.g. Fivetran)
  • Experience building and maintaining data pipelines and transformation layers
  • Proven ability to work with stakeholders to gather and translate requirements into technical solutions
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to derive meaningful insights from data
  • Experience with BI and visualisation tools (e.g. Looker, Power BI, Tableau)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non technical audiences
  • Agile mindset, with experience delivering iterative, value driven solutions
  • Python / R
  • Product analytics experience
