What Is the Opportunity?

Data and Analytics (DNA) is the heartbeat of Simply Business, empowering every decision we make with precision and insight. As our Senior Analytics Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of this mission, moving beyond standard reporting to build the high-performance, event-driven data models that power our AI and ML future. This role blends technical mastery with strategic influence. You'll not just build pipelines; you'll pioneer AI readiness by designing low-latency architectures that drive real-time decisions-from dynamic pricing to risk assessment-across our entire global operation.

Responsibilities
  • Design and build authoritative data models in our warehouse, ensuring every asset is robust, scalable, and fully AI/ML ready.
  • Integrate diverse new data sources to enrich our analytical capabilities and provide the complex datasets required for advanced machine learning.
  • Collaborate across engineering and product teams to ensure application designs support sophisticated reporting and real-time AI features.
  • Manage and optimise ELT pipelines that serve as the single source of truth for Finance, Operations, and Marketing teams.
  • Champion technical standards by mentoring junior engineers and driving best practices in data governance and quality assurance.
  • Pioneer feature-engineering pipelines that allow us to challenge the status quo and deliver refreshing, data-led solutions to our customers.
Qualifications
  • Seasoned data expert with 3+ years of experience in analytics or data engineering, specifically modeling and transforming data using tools like dbt.
  • Technically proficient in cloud environments, with hands-on experience using Snowflake or Databricks to manage large-scale data assets.
  • Experienced in building ML features, with a passion for creating the infrastructure that makes artificial intelligence possible.
  • Adaptable and curious, ideally familiar with various programming languages and interested in evaluating new tools to drive AI adoption.
  • Proactive problem solver, possibly with experience in real-time streaming (e.g., Apache Flink) or a background in the insurance domain.
  • Relatable communicator who can translate complex technical architecture into plain English for stakeholders across the business.
Benefits

We offer a great work-life balance with manageable workloads and flexible hybrid work. Core benefits include 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, an option to purchase five extra days, flexible parental leave (six months full pay for primary caregiver, four weeks for secondary), life-event leave every two years, a two-week paid sabbatical after five years and four weeks after ten years. Private medical insurance through BUPA covers pre-existing conditions, a health cash plan for everyday expenses, a competitive salary based on experience and market, and potential annual bonus. You also receive access to a dedicated learning platform, mental-health support and counselling, a pension match up to 5%, a tax-free life assurance policy (four times basic salary, up to ten times), a salary-sacrifice car scheme, and flexible benefits to cover items such as critical illness, dental, travel, or gym memberships.
