PHP Developer (Contract)

Location: Remote or hybrid (Cheltenham)

Day Rate: £300-£375 per day (outside IR35)

Duration: 3-6 months, 2-3 days per week

Benefits: Outside IR35, flexible working pattern

Our client, a leading digital agency, is looking for a mid-senior PHP Developer to support ongoing project delivery across several key client accounts. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to high-quality digital builds while working flexibly within an established technical team.

What you'll do

• Build and maintain websites using PHP across Statamic, WordPress and occasionally Shopify
• Develop custom themes, components and reusable modules
• Deliver clean, accessible front-end code (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
• Contribute to continuous improvement of development workflows and tooling
• Work efficiently within an existing project team while managing your own workload independently

You'll work closely with designers, developers and project leads to ensure smooth delivery and consistent technical standards across projects.

What we're looking for

• 4-6+ years' commercial development experience
• Strong PHP capability with CMS experience (Statamic, WordPress, Shopify advantageous)
• Solid front-end skills across HTML, CSS and JavaScript
• Experience building custom themes and components
• Familiarity with Bitbucket, build tools and modern development workflows

The ideal contractor will be highly self-sufficient, detail-driven and confident integrating into an established codebase and delivery environment.
