Technical Lead - Hybrid Worcester

Your new company
Working with a UK-based software company that provides an all-in-one business management system for the automotive industry. Its platform integrates key business functions into a cloud-based solution.They are now looking for a technical lead to join the team that has some areas of growth and expansion.

Your new role
You'll own a platform that's been trusted for over 15 years, ensuring stability while driving modernisation. This is your chance to set the technical direction, influence architecture, and make decisions that matter.
You will:

• Take full technical ownership of the platform and infrastructure (AWS, Java, MySQL)
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues with calm precision.
• Lead refactoring and migration projects (think Quarkus, containerisation)
• Mentor developers and champion best practices in coding, testing, and deployment
• Balance reliability with innovation to future-proof the system

What you'll need to succeed
To be a perfect fit for this role, you will have experience in:

• Building and maintaining Java applications (8-17)
• Skilled in SQL performance tuning and database design
• Hands-on AWS experience (EC2, RDS, S3, networking)
• Calm under pressure, methodical in debugging
• Passionate about setting technical strategy and mentoring others

And will have experience with the following tech stack :

• Backend: Java (JBoss 6.1), REST architecture
• Database: MySQL
• Infrastructure: AWS (EC2, RDS, CloudWatch, S3)
• Future Direction: Quarkus, containerised deployments, CI/CD
