Network & Server Infrastructure Engineer

Full time, 37 hours per week

£30,619 to £36,333 per annum

(Up to £38,474 for an exceptional candidate)

As part of a small but vital team, and reporting to the Head of Technical Architecture, the Architecture Support Engineer will need to demonstrate prior experience of network switch, router and firewall configuration, management and monitoring, in addition to excellent communication skills. Previous experience of servers and physical storage will be beneficial and training along with skill and knowledge sharing will be provided and encouraged. You will be helping to digitally transform the university IT infrastructure.

You will need to be able to demonstrate prior, hands on, experience of:

  • Configuring, managing and monitoring:
    • At least one of Cisco / Aruba / Arista / Huawei network equipment
    • Network and server monitoring systems
    • Routing protocols, VLAN’s, IP addressing
    • Windows Server, SQL, Exchange, Linux (Ubuntu preferred), and VMware vSphere
    • Physical servers, server virtualization, storage systems
  • Working with, and managing the connectivity of structured copper, fibre and wireless networking
  • Understanding of IPv6 networking, IP Telephony would be advantageous.
  • Prioritizing customer support requests and good customer service skills.
