Embedded Software Engineer Based in Portsmouth (Hybrid Working) Security Clearance - Desirable Our client is seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to join their Advanced Developments team, supporting the creation of cutting-edge embedded and wireless technology. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a highly innovative environment where you'll help prototype, develop and refine next-generation embedded systems for high-profile technical programmes. As an Embedded Software Engineer, you'll contribute to the end-to-end development of embedded software solutions, from initial prototype through to deployment-ready systems. You'll work daily with C/C++ across bare-metal and embedded Linux platforms, supporting the development of real-time solutions and working with a range of modern embedded tooling. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy complex technical challenges, problem-solving and developing advanced technology within a collaborative environment. Key Responsibilities You will develop embedded software and firmware using C/C++ in both bare-metal and embedded Linux environments. You'll create prototype solutions and evolve them to production standard, configure and deploy embedded Linux systems using tools such as Buildroot and Yocto, and work with U-Boot, kernel configuration and device trees. You will also engage in real-time embedded development using platforms such as Microblaze or RISC-V, and work with Linux device drivers, DMA and interrupts. Systems Engineer Location: Gloucester This is an exciting opportunity for a Systems Engineer to join a growing engineering team in Gloucester. Working on cutting-edge aerospace programmes, you will play a key role in the development, analysis and validation of aircraft landing gear systems, supporting everything from research and technology projects through to full product development and in-service support. This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer with a passion for systems analysis, simulation, integration, performance and dynamics to contribute to innovative solutions within a highly regulated and technically challenging environment. What You'll Be Doing As a Systems Engineer, you will work across complex mechanical and hydraulic aircraft systems, helping to ensure products meet performance, safety and certification requirements throughout the development lifecycle. Key responsibilities include: Developing computational models and conducting system simulations Performing static and dynamic load calculations Conducting performance, frequency response, modal and stability analyses Investigating shimmy behaviour and failure scenarios Correlating and validating models against test data Defining and validating system performance requirements Creating simulation test cases and establishing pass/fail criteria Collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams to optimise system designs Supporting test activities and interpreting results Ensuring delivery against programme schedules, quality standards and cost targets What We're Looking For Essential Skills & Experience Degree (or equivalent qualification) in an Engineering discipline Experience in systems modelling, analysis and simulation Knowledge of landing gear extension and retraction systems Experience analysing shock absorber performance Understanding of recoil analysis, system loads generation and model integration Experience conducting shimmy and stability analysis Proficiency in industry-standard tools such as: MATLAB/Simulink MSC ADAMS AMESim Strong understanding of mechanical principles and dynamic system behaviour Ability to interpret requirements and translate them into robust engineering solutions What's on Offer?
